Who is the American Legion Auxiliary?
We are the world's largest patriotic service organization with nearly 1 million members in 10,100 communities. We are a community of volunteers that support veterans, military members, and their families. The ALA's mission to honor the sacrifices of those who serve, and to imporve the lives of veterans and their families.
What Does the Auxiliary Do?
The American Legion Auxiliary make a difference in the lives of all Americans. We organize community events and help our nations’ veterans through legislative action and volunteerism. The members of our organization are a unique group, joined in the fellowship of volunteerism, patriotism, and dedication to veterans, young people, and communities.
Our Unit
- Sponsors the City of Safety Harbor Parade and ceremony at the Gazebo afterwards
- Collects clothes and toys for children and veterans in Safety Harbor and Oldsmar
- Cooks and serves Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas to Veterans, members and the community
- Sponsors children and provides Christmas gifts in Safety Harbor via the Mattie William’s Community Center and/ or the FL Sherriff's Youth Ranch
- Provides backpacks with clothing, socks, snacks, sweatshirts and assorted "goodies" to homeless Veterans on Christmas Day
- Conducts blood drives throughout the year
- Provides school supplies to teachers in Safety Harbor schools and Auxiliary member teachers
- Sponsors an annual children's Christmas party with gifts & refreshments
- Sponsors Special Holiday Events during Wing Night for the children such as Cupid & Jingle Wings
- Aids in helping local members who are natural disaster relief victims
